From the service being exceptional (waitress Vanessa and manager Jack), this place has it going on. I advised waitress I had never been here before and 2 minutes later the manager showed up to inform me how they make fresh and welcome me. He even advised they are bringing a location right down the road from my home. Ordered one of their specials: mexican tacos. Jack then brought out another special (fajita enchilada) as a welcoming. Mexican tacos were good but that enchilada was off the charts! I'll definitely order that again! It's hard for me to give 5 stars but literally everything was exceptional.

LOVE this place. Authentic Mexican food. So good. Extensive menu, very reasonable prices. Even my extremely picky daughter loves their food. Servers are always prompt and attentive.

I like Teds. My parents have recently moved to OK and whenever I visit, it's somewhere we can all agree on eating. They have all the typical Tex Mex options and offer complimentary salsa, queso, and sopapillas. It's just solid food. Definitely not the best I've ever had, but for south OKC, it's more than acceptable, especially considering the alternative options. They are good about customizing sides and sauces. The wait staff is usually good. Quick service and accurate orders. Our biggest issue is in food knowledge. The menu states that they have vegetarian options, which is great! And they do! However, we often get differing information about what is and isn't vegetarian and even have heard different things from the kitchen, which is a little frustrating. But, we will continue to visit as it is close, and even with a wait, it tends to go quickly. We just will not be adventurous in trying new things.

Ordered a few tacos to go. My wife wanted tacos-al-carbon and then some chicken and shredded beef tacos. Tacos that my wife ordered were fine because they were made with corn tortillas. Other tacos were half & half. They were in crunchy shells. The lady who took the order didn't clarify if I wanted crunch or soft shell tacos. If she had reminded me I would have gone with soft shell. Lots of salsa, chips, quest and tortillas were provided. Good food nonetheless - my family enjoyed it which was the goal so thank you Ted's!!

15 years or more ago, this was the place to go. It was the only Mexican restaurant anyone ever wanted to go to. Looking back, I wonder if that is just because it was well known, or one of few Mexican establishments at which to dine in the area? I was young. I don't remember. I have visited 3 times in the recent past. I think I've lost that loving feeling. To me this is just a historical establishment with mediocre Mexican food. The service is not even anything to brag about. And coming at high traffic hours during the evening and weekend is just not worth the wait. I have found the exact same at other locations in the area. Perhaps they should've stuck with the one and only and the quality of food and service wouldn't have deteriorated. Regardless, several other Mexican restaurants I prefer over Ted's. This is just average food and average ambiance.

We recently moved to OKC from Northern California. Ted's is just a short hop from our new home and we thought to give it a try since none of or kitchen boxes were unpacked yet. Can't say enough about the wonderful friendly, attentive service and fantastic food! The salsa and quesso are wonderful....so were the chicken tacos and shredded beef chimichanga. Can't wait to go back!

Came here with family who lives in Oklahoma and although not too fond of Mexican food, I found this place to be really good. I got the chicken enchilada and it was delicious. Will definitely try again if time permits. Oh and service was awesome. Our waitress was very nice and helpful.

Amazing food, outstanding Margaritas and if you are lucky enough to get Alexander as a waiter you are in for a great time! We love this place and were pleasantly surprised at all the complimentary items you get. Not just chips and dip. Great place.

Terrible service! Please note while they do serve alcohol, they do not have a bar. Attempted to place a to go order and was asked to step aside to the left for someone to take my order. After 30 minutes of orders being brought out to others, I began to think I should call the restaurant from inside the lobby to place my order. A few minutes later a guy who may have been the manager, came out to make a list of people waiting for their to go orders. When he got to me he said he would be right back so that I could place my order. Another 10 minutes went by... when he returned, he informed me that it would take at least 45 minutes for my order to be completed. ... At which time I decided to leave. The food could have been good, but whose to judge, the service was terrible. Definitely will not recommend this place to anybody in the future!

Never been to Teds before but came highly recommended. Good was amazing. Loved the free queso they had to offer. I had combo fajitas but a little stingy on the meat as I only got 3 pieces of each. Only main complaint is they sat me in a section they were cleaning and very obnoxious w the vacuum lately constantly by my table. Waitress was amazing though and checked on me often.

Overpriced, small portions and no shrimp??! Smh sorry but I expected more than a mediocre meal for these prices.

  • Brandy W.

The only positive I will give was that Taffy, our waitress, was awesome. I still cannot see why people wait so long for this food. It was bland. The "hottest" sauce was little more than jar quality. The prices were so high that I was uncomfortable for our friends that suggested it, wish I had warned them. Anyway, my review will not hamper those that love this place. I only hope to suggest you look around if you are out of town. It is not the best mexican food in town. Also, after our incredibly long wait, we had to sit right by a door that was drafty on a day when the temps were sub 20 degrees outside. Not fun.

Good parking, beautiful decorative ambiance, GREAT customer service. My group came for lunch and we were seated right away. Our servers name was Kamber and she was AMAZING, the best server EVER! Our drinks were replenished, she let us know what was in each dish that we might not like (which was GREAT). The food was DELICIOUS! Nothing inappropriately spicy. I had a chicken taco and chicken with crema side enchilada, papas and grilled vegetables. Really delicious. My mom had a grilled steak fajita quesadilla and really loved it.

This place is so good. From the complimentary chips and dips to the complimentary desert Ted's is a great place to go for some great food. My husband and I ordered the fajitas for two and we loved them. The chicken and vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. We also had great service. We were told there would be a 15 min wait but we were seated within 5 minutes. The server was very attentive and our food came out quick. Ted's is so good and my husband and I will be back soon!

Update: 1 day later, coworkers noticing excessive flatulence First, every time me and my wife have eaten here, it's been a packed house (15-20 minute wait), and the wait staff had been very attentive and knowledgeable. The decor is nice as well. Now to the food ... It's been good every time, one of my favorite tex-mex places in south okc. Highly recommend the atomic salsa when your complimentary chips and queso come out, it's very fresh and had a nice kick to it. I ordered the pollo ranchero, which was cooked well, and is topped with cheese and house ranchero sauce. To top it off, the perfect margarita is pretty perfect.

We came here on a Sunday for lunch (a late lunch around 2pm) and it was packed. Our group of 6 had to wait 30 minutes as they don't take reservations. There is both an indoor and outdoor waiting area and a small TV. Once seated, we were greeted with chips and a bevy of salsas and queso. They also provided tortillas made in house for our dipping pleasure. There were 2 salsas that were hotter than the standard and those had to be requested. All dips were great. For my entrée, I had the Beefy Mexican Tacos. It was shredded, not ground beef, so we were off to a good start. Additionally, the portions were large and my only complaint is that it was a bit greasy and too salty. The service was great and the ambiance very homey. I even took my kid over to watch them make the tortillas through the window.

The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because of service. However I'm not a fan of Mexican food so if I was I'd probably give this place a 5. They have complimentary chips with queso and salsa which they refill regularly. Also complimentary soppa pilla? I'm pretty sure I spelt that wrong. I ordered the taco salad with the seasoned steak and it was pretty tasty but not something that was better than the taco salad at the state fair. The price was 9 dollars for it so similar to the state fair price but more pricier than the nearby taco stand. The amount wasn't great either. My friend order the enchiladas and she only ate 1 out of 3. This is where the service came into play. Our waiter only charged us for what we ate and we were surprised and insisted it was ok. The service here is really great and it was a packed house the Wednesday night we went.

I love this place, this is where I had my first date with my husband and we continue to go here at least once a month because it's one of our favorite sit down $$ range restraunts! We love mexican food and are very picky so this place is great to say the least! The staff is always awesome and it is very inexpensive!

ive eaten at #1 rated teds on the north side so my expectations were high. went with bf, seated immediately at 730 on a tuesday. server was nice but he was tall so his crotch was in our face the entire time lol ackward!! queso wasnt hot or good. noticed the employees that clean and serve chips and dip were standing around in groups looking depressed and doing nothing. i noticed this after our chip bowl was empty and our busy waiter had to get us some more. The chicken fajita enchiladas were amazing though! soo we will go back to teds but not this location.

Everyone in Oklahoma seems to love Ted's...I'll be honest, I've eaten there twice in my life and outside of the excellent set-up (fresh tortillas, chips, salsa, queso, etc) it's typical Oklahoma mexican food, which, if I wanted that, I'd go to El Chico or some other Americanized mexican food place. There was nothing special about my dinner platter, I really didn't like the beef at all. I guess living in California and eating at true taqueria's there and in Baja spoiled me. Don't get me wrong, it's not that the place serves bad food, but for what it is, and the cost of it, I've had better. I have never liked "tex-mex" or "sonoran". The set up and the fast and courteous service sets the place apart.

  • Katrina M.

Someone recommended this restaurant, so we decided to check it out while we're in town. I got the chile rellanos and my husband got the Mexican flag enchiladas. We both thought our food was great. We were very pleased by the free (and delicious) free chips, salsa, queso, and soft homemade flour tortillas. We were surprised when we were later asked if we wanted free sopapillas for dessert--yes! Soft, warm, cinnamony goodness. Also, our host (Omar) was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place. The value, considering what we paid and all the food we got, was amazing! Check this place out!

We have eaten at EVER Mexican place in OKC. TED"S is the ONLY restaurant that is great EVERY visit. From the complimentary chips, salsa, queso.to all the meals we have tried everything is extremely fresh and prepared the same way each visit. Important when you love something! We are never disappointed. I know why it is crowded. People know great Mexican once they taste it.!! Thanks to all the great waiters. Everyone is so nice and friendly. Makes it a wonderful place each visit!

  • Savannah M.

Just "okay." Our server wasn't very attentive and didn't seem interested in being at work. The food was just "okay," considering the price we paid. It's not overly expensive, but the food is not worth the price in my opinion.

    (3)
  • Heather R.

Teds is ok. Tortillas are good and so are the fajitas. I do prefer San Marcos through :-/ cheaper too!

  • Joe C.

I just ... don't ... get it. I mean, sure, if your primary objective is to find a place so blandly inoffensive that your whole group will be equally miserable, by all means. The food is unremarkable and flavorless, the atmosphere corporatized Mexican, and they packed us in like sardines to accommodate the huge crowds and massive wait times. Service was fine but seemed artificially cheerful. I could easily envision the manager checking everyone's flair during pre-shift. It seems pretty clear what we have here is a love or hate situation, without much middle ground. That's okay -- I have memories of places I grew up with that I will defend to the death even if others who don't have that background maybe aren't as enamored. But I would definitely argue you can have much better Mexican and much better Tex-Mex in the city.

  • Caitlyn W.

This is the absolute best Mexican restaurant I've ever been. I love the chips, I love the salsa, and my favorite thing on the menu is their chicken fajitas! Every time I visit Oklahoma I vow to visit this incredible food establishment

    (5)
  • Tammy B.

Highly recommended by coworkers, I braved the crowds and gave Ted's a try. I had two heaping tacos and an amazing bowl of chicken tortilla soup. The chips and salsa were fresh, and the waiter even talked me into a sopapilla and fresh coffee for dessert. I will definitely visit again on a return trip to OKC!

  • Michael S.

I came here at the recommendation of a coworker and was very surprised. The food was not traditional Mexican, and it wasn't Americanized Sysco crap chain food either. The style of food landed more in the middle between the two, but with quality ingredients. I had the Chile Relleno stuffed with fajita chicken. It came out as a lumpy dark green mound, covered in cheese. The pepper was fresh and lightly crisp, and the chicken was perfectly cooked with a grilled flavor. It's lands solidly as one of the best Chile Relleno I have ever had. I ate with a friend of mine from Mexico city who was a huge fan of the atomic salsa, and thoroughly enjoyed the tacos he ordered. He also commented that the tortillas were some of the closest to real Mexican tortillas that he had found in the states. They are definitely on the border of a 4 but I just couldn't do it. I'll have to go back and try something new. If it is a similar experience, I'll definitely have to give Ted's a bump up!

  • Michael M.

Okay I am the 1st person to say Ted's isn't quite what it used to be. This time the proved that they might be better than recent experience. The starters have always been off the charts. The queso and the atomic sauce yeah I like those things, but lets see what happens when the meal comes. I ordered an old favorite the chicken chimi and a beef tamale. Might I say this was one of the best tamales that I have ever had. The chicken chimmy was also a reminder of how good Ted's used to be. This is my best experience here in a few years. No five nope not until I have been back a few times, but at least it seem you are getting it right again. As well the service was above par and the wait time was not to bad. I will be definitely be eating at Ted's a few more times in the year to come.

    (4)
  • Scott I.

Teds used to be the best Mexican restaurant in OKC. The food quality has gone way downhill though. I still love their atomic salsa though. Hopefully they'll work out of this current lull and return better than before.

    (3)
  • Michael H.

Well worth the trip. Good salsa, get the "spicy" salsa, it's much better than the standard salsa that they automatically bring to the table. The atmosphere is excellent as well, providing a comfortable surrounding with friendly employees. Service is very good and always with a good attitude and smile. Good food too, if I have not made that perfectly clear.

Our number one pick for Mexican food in the okc-Moore-Norman area! Food is always great. Wait staff is very friendly and they give great service. Priced well. Good portions

  • Capt. S.

Anyone that says this is the best Mexican food they have had, has NEVER had good Mexican food. Atmosphere was nice. Service was good. Food, was not. The tortillas were an embarrassment to Taco Bell, much less a full restaurant. I've gotten better tortillas from HEB grocery store back home. The beans were drab and flavorless. The rice was unimpressive. The chicken entree was bland and cooked to the point of hard and rubbery. Margarita's left much to be desired. I went to the location in Edmond. Do yourself a favor and bypass this place. Go to Alfredo's off Broadway. Food was much better. Even their margarita's.

    (1)
  • Christy M.

Food was good. The cheese sauce is a bit tasteless. Angela was our sever & she did a wonderful job serving a party of 7.

    (4)
  • Diane D.

The "best" in OKC? I don't think so. Really generic super bland Mexican food. I had their "atomic" salsa - oh please what a joke. But with a gringo name like Ted's I guess that is to be expected. Beans were nasty and the rice was super dry. I had the Tacos El Carbon and while the meat was good there was nothing to get excited about. Husband had the El Gordo - and while there was a lot of food on the plate nothing was noteworthy. The tortillas were the best part of the meal but not enough to come back another time. Service was good - friendly and professional. Atmosphere was noisy and crowded. Seriously over rated. While Chilleno's isn't great it is better than Ted's.

  • Lesley B.

First time here, and WOW! delicious! But you can't go wrong with a place that serves complimentary fresh-made, warm tortillas, chips, queso, and the freshest-tasting salsa I've ever had at a restaurant... AND complimentary sopapillas for dessert! Main course was great as well. I had the Mexican Flag (3 different enchiladas with chile sauce, sour cream sauce, and tomatillo sauce). I also like the variety of side dishes rather than just refried beans and rice like at most other Mexican restaurants. Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Robert S.

No, it's not Austin or South Texas Tex-Mex, but I'd definitely eat there again. Service was good and with a smile. The tasty hot sauces and chips were kept full. And my pork chili verde was very good. Big chunks of very tender pork in a green sauce that had really good flavor. Wrapped up in one of their housemade tortillas with a little atomic sauce, and everything was good (oh yeah, the tortillas were good, although I've had better). The wife enjoyed her tortilla soup. She did say she would preferred some potatoes and carrots in it, but she's not from Texas so what does she know? The one drawback I had was they seemed to short you on the tekillya in the margaritas. More kick in those and it would have been 4 stars. And the $5.99 "set-up charge" for freeloaders, I think, is appropriate. I have been in a situation where I and one other person actually ordered meals at a Mexican restaurant while 4 or 5 other people just ate chips and salsa with water. It's embarrassing and yes, I do consider people like that 'freeloaders."

  • Emily B.

For Oklahoma, it's not bad. Service is great and the food is good. I recommend their margaritas!!

    (4)
  • Andrew H.

Some of the best Mexican food I have EVER had (I'm not ashamed to say I usually prefer Tex-Mex to authentic). Service is so good it's almost annoying. You will never run out of anything, expect to have a dedicated tortilla man, water man, and salsa man...craaaazy. Food is a little expensive (for OKC and for Mexican food) but the portions are HUGE and the price is well worth it. Expect to wait a while before you are seated, this place is almost always packed (my mommy taught me that a packed parking lot "means it's good")

    (5)
  • Mark M.

OU alum here - grew up in Austin. Haven't lived in Oklahoma for several years. However, ANY TIME I go back (twice a year or so), this is first on my list. I love it. Sure the food is completely and totally loaded with cheese and grease and most dishes are nothing more than a variation of tortilla, cheese, and meat (some fried, some baked, and may with cheese in multiple locations) - that's what you go here for!! The tortillas are heaven. If you visit OKC, go! There are several locations.

I was raised on Ted's, back when there was only it's original location on May with the 2 hour wait times. Now, the wait it much shorter, but the food is still just as good. The hostess staff always seem like they know what they are doing and are well organized. Each meal comes with complimentary chips, tortillas, queso, salsa, and sopapillas. They have the best, homemade tortillas that you can watch being made in a window. Their salsa is fresh, as is their homemade tortilla chips. The sopapillas is made with the same, freshly made tortillas. SO GOOD! I always order the enchiladas and flauntas. My dad likes to get the quacamole salad. My husband always switches it up, but is never disappointed. I have never had a bad service experience at Ted's either. Bottomline, this is an awesome pleace for great tex mex food.

  • Steve S.

Rolled in here tonight to eat. Place was hot. AC must have been down. Decided to leave and the hostess was rude But then again, she was really busy wiping off menus (sarcastic) so she may have not have had time to crack a smile and be nice or apologetic.

  • Adrian G.

Tried for the first time and I am very impressed with their lunch menu. They included plenty of food such as warm tortillas, chips, salsa, cheese dip, guacamole, and complimentary desert. All for under $10 bucks

    (5)
  • Jay L.

My favorite mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa/cheese are always fresh and timely. For those that like heat, ask for the atomic sauce - great with the chips! Most dishes are excellent, but I'm not a fan of the chicken tacos. The service is always fast and friendly. It can be a bit pricey to eat here, considering most mexican dishes are the same combination of meat, tortilla, and cheese, but it's by far the best option in town. If eating there for lunch, get there before the crowd as the wait can be long.

  • Sherri P.

Very disappointing. We have always enjoyed going to Ted's but today when we went we discovered they had changed their menu . The selection of food wasn't as good as it was on the old menu and their prices seemed to have increased. I don't think we will be going back to Ted's. Chuy's or Alfredo's will get our business. Excellent and attentive service here! Best we've had in awhile here in OKC. The food wasn't bad. I ordered the "Best Mexican Taco" plate and they almost lived up to the name. I wasn't sure whether to get chicken or beef, so I got both. I should have stuck with the chicken as the beef lacked flavor, was pink inside and burned outside. The free chips and salsa/queso was nice although the salsa needs more heat (still tasty though). I snuck food off my wife's enchilada plate and thought those were ok flavor wise (chicken was a little chewy). The chili sauce on it was EXCELLENT. The free dessert at the end was a nice and delicious bonus. Will try this place again in the future!

I only had catering from this restaurant so based on that....Well I should have known with a name like Ted that it would be what I like to call "white people mexican". The food that was catered was blah. The tortillas definitely didnt seem homemade, the queso was thin and runny, the ground beef looked like it was from Taco Bell and the beans tasted like they had too much lard. The best part of the whole meal was the guacamole which was very tasty. What was supposed to be sopapillas were chips with sugar and cinnamon. The chicken was alright for the tacos, but I am just not a fan of shredded chicken for tacos. For the price we paid for the catering, I expected some fajita meat. I wouldnt go eat at this restaurant after having this food. I heard people just rave about this mexican food but I was not impressed in the slightest.

  • Kristen J.

Great food. Great service. Great Mexican! I am a huge fan of Mexican food and this place hit the spot. Our server was amazing and super friendly. I got the tamales and they were delicious. The chips, salsa and queso is yummy and the tortillas were fresh. I believe they make them on sight. I also heard from our waiter that Teds is expanding after being bought up by another much larger company. This means many more locations in other states. Very exciting!

This was a pretty good place. I am particular about my Mexican food, oh wait all food but anyway they did a good job. If I lived around here, I would come back for sure!

Ordered a frozen lemonade vodka that was so refreshing and good. They brought out free cheese dip, salsa, a really hot relish with avacado, flour tortillos, and a dish of pickled carrots, onions and hot peppers. I could have made a meal of this alone!! Had a bottomless bowl of tortilla soup that was as thick as a stew and very yummy. It came with two tacos - one crispy and one soft. They were some of the best tacos EVER. I could't finish there was so much food - for $9.99 - very reasonable. Then they brought out complimentary desserts...fried dough with cinammon sugar and honey to put on it. They had a name, I just don;t remember it. My total bill with two drinks, apps, dinner and dessert...$25. Felt like I won the lottery. Glad a local told me about this place because I don't think I would have chosen a mexican restaurant named Ted's. Just doesn't fit somehow.

As much as it pains me to leave this review, I must in hopes management will take note. This restaurant has been one of my favorite places to eat while in Oklahoma. Yesterday I was greatly disappointed. Party of two we were seated at a table that was meant for children, there was barely room for our drinks, chips, queso & salsa so imagine how much smaller the table space was when our food arrived. The floor under & around our table was so filthy, covered in salsa & chips, I had to sit my purse on the already miniature size table. Instead of herding people in as fast as they can, they need to clean up around the tables better before seating the next party. As far as the food goes, chips, salsa, queso, tortillas delicious. My husband ordered steak tacos which he said were perfect, I ordered chicken tortilla soup which was lukewarm and seemed to be the bottom if the pot serving. Hardly had any contents. Our server was attentive but upon bringing my change brought me two fives, no ones. I'm a great tipper but sorry sister I don't like being forced into leaving you a $10 tip. I'm hoping they had an off day but won't be in town long enough to find out. Adios Ted's.

Want to be disrespected and have your meal ruined? then run right down to Ted's Espcondido's on south Western and let the unruly kids ruin your meal and the management will let them stay and ruin the whole sections meal!!! Love the place but wont stand to let anyone direspect me and have management back THEM!!!! Puking... sounds, mmmmm' Goes good w all the food going down huh? very appetizing. Love the food but wont return. See More

We finally found Ted's after scrutinizing the reviews & got the right address put into the Garmin. The things I'd read were correct - the place was crowded, and noisy. Unfortunatley we got stuck with a table in the middle of the room instead of a booth. There was barely enough room on the table for all the plates. Ted's is great if your stomach is a bottomless pit. The portions were more than I could finish, and I'm not used to diced tomatoes on chicken tacos at Mexican restaurants, but all the garnishings were fresh. The tortillas were warm and yummy with the supplied queso dip. Their chips and salsa were very close to Garibaldi (the Mexican restaurant by which I measure all others). Next time I'll know to order just one taco, so I don't feel quite so full when I'm done.

This place is awesome. You might have to wait at dinner time but everything is top notch. Service, food, price it is the real deal. This branch serves real booze and is a little more roomier then the other one. I don't give out five stars lightly, this is it.

  • Christoph H.

I first experienced Ted's when I was in college back in 1995. At the time, I loved it, but I was young. Now, I am not as impressed. I only go now when I am in OKC to visit friends and family, and they suggest it. I would not choose Ted's. The food is overpriced for the quality. The queso dip is bland and a mystery: you also must pay a setup fee around $6 if you enjoy chips, salsa and queso without ordering a meal. Yes, if you split, you will be charged this fee. I will say the Flour tortillas are great, and the portions are large. The hotter salsa is tasty. The service is usually solid. Overall, this place caters to the patrons who prefer mild, Midwest style mexican food.

On Sunday I woke up just in time for lunch. My friend suggested we go to Ted's, her favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. After a night of heavy drinking (see my review for Drinkz), I figured that eating Mexican food was a genius idea. We arrived and waited about 20 mins until we were seated. The hostess sat us at a tiny table right in the center of the restaurant-- not the best seats in the house, but we were too hungry to complain. We were given something to munch on right away. And I loved that they serve warm cheese dip with the complimentary tortilla chips and tortillas. Score! The food was alright. I had cheese enchiladas smothered in that warm cheese dip with beans and rice on the side. The food wasn't very flavorful or authentic tasting and the rice was dry, but everything was edible. I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 because of the free yummy warm cheese dip and because I really enjoyed my strawberry margarita.

Okay so let me say that I have never thought that Ted's was OKCs best Mexican place. It is fair. The chips are good and pretty much everything on the menu is good. You can't go wrong with Ted's, but it's just okay. I don't dream about Ted's, I don't go to OKC to eat there. It's always crowded, there is always a long wait. The service is acceptable, but it's just okay. I mean really what's the big freakin' deal. Everyone is OKC is like ooooo Ted's let's go to Ted's but really there are better places.

The service is awesome, but since its always busy you always feel rushed to eat and get out. I could make better food at home. Cheese sauce is your norm chicken broth tasting cheese. Not "Real Mexican" food, but service is great. Would say its a little overrated.

  • Nabil T.

I love the food, but it's overpriced and the wait is long. The service is always good, but the wait always ruins it for me and I just don't see that the food deserves all that hassle.

I agree with you Mr. Odd Man out. Believe me you're not that odd. Okies look, you gotta get real! This place is "meh". I mean if you look up mediocre Mexican food in the dictionary.... Get it? Ted's has been voted best Mexican in OKC for the last 1000 years or so by gazzetteers. Look I'm an Okie and proud of it but get in the car folks and head South. The only reason people could vote this over 2 stars is that they have never tasted any good Tex-Mex or Authentic Mex. The really bad part is that this "flavor extracted" style of Mexican food has been allowed to multiply across the Metro area to the point where people actually think this is the status quo. They seek out this taste! Can you believe it? I think some Mexican mafia family is behind this whole thing. Wake up Okies! We have to get some tasty Mexican fare North of the Red River eventually, but as long as OKC folks hanker for this flavorless Mexican food I fear I will have to continue my pilgrimages to Dallas just to get some good food. This place is like the Furr's of Mexican food. It's what Mexican food would be like at my Grandmother's house. I believe they actually have a "flavor extractor" in the kitchen to make sure that nothing too spicy or tasty makes way into the mouths of the geriatrics who have made this place the status quo Mexican food in OKC for years. I am only saying this for our own good. Rebel against crappy tasteless food! Join the cause. T-Bone says, don't just skip it, be diabolically opposed to mediocre Mexican food.

i have to agree with T-Bone. if this is the best oklahoma city has to offer as far as "the best" mexican food, then i may shoot myself in the head. to think i had to wait to be seated for this "meh" food is laughable. and the guy who waited on me needs to not call ladies "babe" or "sugar" or "sweetie". i cannot stand it. you do not know me nor are you my husband, so don't effin do it. also, my maiz con crema punches their maiz con crema in the face like a champion. :D

This location of Ted's is one of three in OKC. Check for the others on N. May Ave, and in Edmond. The food is great, the service is good, but ya gotta go early or late, otherwise there's a long wait for tables. Plan to show up by 11:30 or after 1:30 for lunch or before 5:30 or after 8:30 for dinner. Great salsa, queso, and ask for the special hot salsa - volcanic! Everything I have tried has been very good, and authentic Tex-Mex.. Great fajitas, good enchiladas, a good chili relleno, and good tacos. You can't go wrong here....

  • Carson C.

I guess I'm the odd man out on Ted's... Everyone I talk to loves this place but I'm just not that impressed. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great... to me anyway.

Note: S WESTERN AVE LOCATION Overrated, but has a few great items. Okay, Ted's... Long was I told that this was God's gift to Mexican food. Many were those who loyally braved 2 hour lines (on a slow day). Ted's was a legend in the OKC metro for couple years before I actually tried it. Then came the experience, and many more that followed (including at least two dines at each location), and now I am a Ted's veteran. After all the hype and hysteria, what do I have to say about the place? It's okay. Don't get me wrong; Ted's has some tremendous items. Well, really just one - their tortillas. These are probably the best tortillas I've ever had, though I feel they are equally matched at Mamaveca in Norman. Most of the rest of their food is just average quality, especially their entrees, but the tortillas really are tremendously good. That said, if you go just for the "complimentary" items (which is an oxymoron in this context), it's like almost $7 by themselves! If you get an entrée, it's usually about $12-20. To me, there is just too much great competition around for some tortillas to merit that kind of price tag! Likes: Great tortillas and good food overall. Dislikes: LONG waits and high prices. Why wait an hour to be seated for Ted's 4 star food when you can be seated immediately at Chelino's/Mamaveca/Palomas/Tarahumara's/Pepe Delgado's and eat close to as good, if not better (in some cases) food? Especially considering that an entrée is about $3-5 cheaper at any of those places than the same is at Ted's! This is why, in opposition of the swarm of people who insist that there is one Ted's to rule them all, I say it's a bit overrated. Ted's serves very good Mexican, but it's way over priced and not everything it's famed to be.

Teds used to be the best Mexican restaurant in OKC. The food quality has gone way downhill though. I still love their atomic salsa though. Hopefully they'll work out of this current lull and return better than before.

Not fun.

Came here with family who lives in Oklahoma and although not too fond of Mexican food, I found this place to be really good. I got the chicken enchilada and it was delicious. Will definitely try again if time permits. Oh and service was awesome. Our waitress was very nice and helpful.

I went to college in Stillwater for my undergrad years and used to date a guy in OKCity. The girls I hung with always raved about Ted's. We went one night and had to wait 1-2 hours for a table. I had ordered chicken quesedillas but they brought beef (not a fan of beef at all), but they told us it would take quite a while to remake the quesedillas. So, nevermind. The service was just OK... nothing special really.

The service is way better than the food....The only menu item I care for is the Best Mexican Tacos.....tex-mex version of street tacos. The set-up is good (chips/salsa/queso/tortillas) I think atomic salsa is better than the salsa they freely dump all over your table......the queso is interesting. Portions are huge.....and loaded with lots of cheese. Not authentic at all....but overall pretty good place.........

Just "okay." Our server wasn't very attentive and didn't seem interested in being at work. The food was just "okay," considering the price we paid. It's not overly expensive, but the food is not worth the price in my opinion.

I just ... don't ...

Rolled in here tonight to eat. Place was hot. AC must have been down. Decided to leave and the hostess was rude But then again, she was really busy wiping off menus (sarcastic) so she may have not have had time to crack a smile and be nice or apologetic.

Tried for the first time and I am very impressed with their lunch menu. They included plenty of food such as warm tortillas, chips, salsa, cheese dip, guacamole, and complimentary desert. All for under $10 bucks

While Chilleno's isn't great it is better than Ted's.

ive eaten at #1 rated teds on the north side so my expectations were high. went with bf, seated immediately at 730 on a tuesday. server was nice but he was tall so his crotch was in our face the entire time lol ackward!! queso wasnt hot or good. noticed the employees that clean and serve chips and dip were standing around in groups looking depressed and doing nothing. i noticed this after our chip bowl was empty and our busy waiter had to get us some more. The chicken fajita enchiladas were amazing though! soo we will go back to teds but not this location.

Whatever they did in the last 6 months, they fixed this restaurant. The meals are amazing now, and the service is great and really fast.

Outstanding wait staff, always friendly and prompt. Great salsa and cheese sauce. Famous street tacos and chicken fajita enchilada and really good. Also have good drinks

They are so quick at getting my to go orders! And they are always great at double checking it before I leave, that way I KNOW my order is right before I leave.

For Oklahoma, it's not bad. Service is great and the food is good. I recommend their margaritas!!

The service is awesome, but since its always busy you always feel rushed to eat and get out. I could make better food at home. Cheese sauce is your norm chicken broth tasting cheese. Not "Real Mexican" food, but service is great. Would say its a little overrated.

I love the food, but it's overpriced and the wait is long. The service is always good, but the wait always ruins it for me and I just don't see that the food deserves all that hassle.

  • Kara G.

I guess I'm the odd man out on Ted's... Everyone I talk to loves this place but I'm just not that impressed. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great... to me anyway.

Ted's may be Americanized Mexican food for rich white people, but they've got their act together. I little expensive, yes, but consistent quality makes it worth it. Great food, great service.

  • T-Bone -.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
